was sentenced to seven years' transportation at the Old Bailey in 1784 for stealing. He arrived
on the Scarborough. In March 1788 he married
Elizabeth Bruce, and in 1791 they settled at the Ponds,
a farming area two and a half miles east of Parramatta, with a chain of large fresh-water ponds.
