a labourer, born in Lancashire, was tried for robbery with violence in 1785. He arrived on the
Alexander. On 8 March 1788, Major Ross reported that Aborigines had killed several escaped
convicts who had camped at the lagoon near Botany Bay. He had discovered their clothes displayed
on a tree.
